To the World’s Best Daddy: Happy Father’s Day!

This was Adam’s first Father’s Day and it was a pretty good one, if I do say so myself. He got to attempt to sleep an extra hour. We went to church, he got a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting for the writing. He also received a few gifts. Adam is impossible to buy gifts for. There is very little he wants, and what he does want is verrrrryyy expensive. Like, say, a piano. That’s not exactly in our budget currently, so I had to come up with some alternatives. I used what very little creativity I have to make him his main gift. I was reading the kids one of those carboard books about Daddy and Me. I thought it would be cute if the book were about our kids and Adam, so I made one. I haven’t made the cover yet because I needed to take some more pictures, and one of the pages is only half done because I can’t find what I’m looking for to decorate it. It is a good old-fashioned cut and paste job. I scanned it and I’ll post it below. He also got the Planet Earth DVD set, a CD, a vegetable basket for grilling and a meat thermometer for the grill.

/I’d like to take a minute to brag on what a wonderful husband and father Adam is. During my pregnancy he cooked, cleaned, shopped and did absolutely everything for me with no complaints and not being asked. When I had to take terbutaline to stop the contractions, he set his alarm twice a night to wake me up to take it for 6 weeks.

/
/
/He makes sure I get time out alone and a break from the kids. He alternates nights with me for monitor duty. He is a 100% hands-on dad and takes as much care of them as I do from the moment he walks in the door. He has been positively giddy about the babies coming ever since we found out about them. He even wants another set of triplets. He did at least as many night feedings as I did when they were younger.
/
/
/
/He has always helped me with cleaning and cooking, even before the kids. I don’t have to gripe, threaten, pout or sulk. He just does it because he is a wonderful husband.
/
/
/
/He is an excellent gift giver. He always puts a lot of thought into my gifts and gets me just what I want or would want. No hints required. He actually notices when I off-handedly mention I like something. I am positively spoiled.
/
/
/
/He is a very thoughtful, kind, loving, caring, generous, wonderful man, and I honestly thank my heavenly father for him every night when I pray. He makes me feel beautiful and intelligent and capable and like I’m a complete success at this mother thing. He loves me in spite of myself. He makes me laugh all the time. And, the frosting on the cake is he’s gorgeous. He’s the perfect husband for me and the perfect father to our kids.
/
/
/
/I’d also like to thank our fathers for raising us to be the people we are. They taught us by example about hard work and determination, they sacrificed and loved us. Now that we are married, we are both fortunate to have two fathers who love us both. Thank you for all you do. We love you.
