A Beautiful October Day

Sawyer – Great news today for Sawyer – He is able to move to the preemie nursery with his siblings.  They are going to wait a day or two in order to find a spot where all three can be next to each other to minimize more movement down the road.  His breathing is great and he moved down to a 1 liter setting on the high flow cannula.  He will either come off all breathing support tomorrow or move to the low-flow cannula.  He is very awake now during his awake moments and fights his diaper change with great vigor.  He, like his siblings, has learned to pull out the cannula and feeding tubes.  It is pretty amazing that they can do this with their tiny little fingers.  Also, his feedings are up to 10 ccs now.  We are still unsure of his weight but the nurse said his last weight was 3lbs 12 oz.

/Sawyer’s nurse mentioned many times today that he has a little bit of a temper and that he likes to express it when she is doing his examination (every three hours).  However, to us, it is very nice to see him express himself after a week of being drugged up and very limp.

/Kimball – Kimball continues his weight gain, up to 3lbs 3 oz as of his weighing last night.  With him, it is a time of gaining weight and hopefully outgrowing his apnea (all three kids are still experiencing some, although less than in the past).  His body and face are beginning to fill out.  We are now seeing a little bit more of what he might look like.  All three of the kids seem to have very different looks and personalities.

/Brinlee – Brinlee also continues the weight gain, up to 3lbs 4 oz.  She continues to be very alert and awake.  She tried to fight dad during her diaper change today, but mass and muscle won out for today.
