Mostly Good News…

April had her appointment today with her perinatologist.  The doctor opened the appointment by giving April an open invitation to be admitted to the hospital if she was having too hard of a time at home. She would have more help in the hospital from all the nurses.  Of course, April politely declined.

/They measured the babies again today (at 31 weeks) and said that everything looked great.  The babies weighed:
/
/
/
/Baby A – 4 lbs 6 ounces (more on Baby A in a minute)
/
/
/
/Baby B – 3 lbs 11 ounces
/
/
/
/Baby C – 4 lbs 3 ounces
/
/
/
/Baby A’s measurement is likely too high as the nurse had a very difficult time measuring her.  She was not behaving and was in the wrong position to allow for good measurements.  She has always been in the middle of the boys in terms of her weight, so we’ll say that she is around 4 lbs.Â

/By any measurements, for the babies to be around 4 lbs at 31 weeks is excellent for a triplet pregnancy.  The doctor eliminated one week from her pregnancy saying that she will deliver at 35 weeks instead of 36 weeks (if she makes it another four weeks).

/The doctor requested that she have her blood pressure checked on her way out. This is where the good news ended.  April’s blood pressure was higher than they wanted and they took some blood to do some labs, which came out ok but they requested that she check into the hospital.

/We had just arrived home when they called with the results and told her to come check into the hospital so here we are.  We still aren’t sure whether they are just wanting to monitor her for a few days or until the end of her pregnancy.  They are trying to eliminate preeclampsia (toxicemia).
