Say it with me, folks. “How fat are they?” We found out at their 2 month checkup today, just 2 days before their 40-week due date. They are 8 weeks, 3 days old. In birth order:
/
/
/
/Brinlee 6 pounds 8 ounces (born at 3 pounds 6 ounces)
/
/
/
/Sawyer 7 pounds (born at 3 pounds 13 ounces)
/
/
/
/Kimball 7 pounds 1 ounce (born at 3 pounds 2 ounces – and the first shall be last and the last shall be first)
/
/
/
/We were amazed. We are used to seeing them as tiny babies. And I guess 7-ish pounds isn’t exactly Tennessee Vol material yet, but they’re much bigger than they were 2 weeks ago when they left the hospital. They’re the size of normal newborns now. Their clothes are starting to fit. And, Sawyer was maintaining a half pound lead on Kimball until now. The race is on.

/They also received their first immunizations today. Adam, Gran and I were there. They were scheduled only for a well-baby checkup today and shots in 2 weeks, but Adam was going to be unavailable that day, so they said we could do them today. They cried just as loudly with the cold alcohol swab as they did with the shots. We had their dinner bottles all ready for them to distract them as soon as it was over. Truth be told, they pretty much stopped crying a few seconds later. Except Brinlee. Let’s just say she has a flair for the dramatic. We were the last apointment of the day, but so far they seem to be handling it ok. We gave them infant Tylenol (they loved that. After all, the second ingredient is sugar). Tonight could be interesting as we try to get them settled down. That’s an awful lot to have happen so close to bed time. A car ride (their 4th ever), a strange new place with lots of strange new people, being man-handled, stripped, and poked with 4 different needles. Poor babies. Only 6 more weeks before they get to do it again.
