All in all the drive was uneventful. We got flat tire when we got off the freeway in Nashville to get some dinner. We could not get the spare tire to release, a cop showed up, he couldn’t, so we called a tow truck. He said the mechanism was stuck, and he had a trick to get around it. That was a two-hour detour we didn’t enjoy.
This year for our annual pilgrimage, we decided to head straight to Hilton Head. Look at this long straight stretch of highway in Wyoming.
It had snowed really hard the week before in Wyoming. I could never live there.
On the drive out, a single drop of juice dropped on my phone when I was opening a juice pouch, and it fried my phone. Forever. Goodbye pictures. The week before my phone had rebooted to factory settings 3 times and deleted everything. It was not a good week for my phone.
We celebrated Georgia’s first birthday in Hilton Head.
We went to dinner at this amazing tapas restaurant called Tapas
The food was amazing.
My favorite was the bacon wrapped dates.
Cousin Madelin came on the trip with us.
Happy girls.
Gran also came with us.
Happy Birthday Georgia Rose!
We stayed at a different resort this time.
It was pretty good, but we still like the other one better.
Queen of the family.
Georgia and Gran
Sleepy kids napping in the sun. Those three lumps are kids.
Some stayed awake and played in the water.
The tragedy is that Adam got in the pool with his phone, and we lost most of the pictures of the trip, and all of the pictures of Caisen and Daisy’s birthday trip, along with many others.
Kim and her girls and mom came on this trip with us. We had planned this before Frank died, and we convinced Kim to come anyway. It was so good for all of us. Kim smiled for the first time. The girls got to talk about what happened with their peers instead of being told what happened by adults. I wish I had pictures of us all, but they were deleted with the phone incident. Relaxing by the pool, playing in the sand and being with friends is what we all needed.
