June 2010 – We enrolled the kids in Infant Swim Resources (ISR) swim lessons. It’s a survival swimming program that teaches kids to swim/float/swim until they reach the stairs or to just float until someone finds them. It’s 6 weeks of daily lessons, and it’s intense, but so worth it. Most kids scream bloody murder until one day they get it, and they stop screaming. I had been hearing about these lessons since I was pregnant with BKS, and was prepared for the screaming. Doing this right after having a baby is not easy, but we did it.

/The first day they didn’t scream so much. The second day I was getting Caisen prepped when I heard the most blood-curdling scream ever. I turned around expecting to see a severed limb, a mouth full of teeth missing, or something equally gut-wrenching. What I saw was Sawyer floating in the pool. That was the cause of my stomach dropping to my feet. He was floating. And apparently he didn’t like it. I got about 50 gray hairs that day. They screamed for a week. At the end of their Friday lesson, I let them all stay to watch the little boy after them who was there for refreshers. They saw him jumping in the pool, having fun, playing, and that’s when they realized this was not torture, it was supposed to be FUN. No more screaming after that. Occasional whimpering, but that’s it. Thank. Goodness.

/Brinlee and Kimball took to it very naturally and learned quickly. Sawyer is a very analytical person and you could see the wheels turning in his head as he processed every part of what he was supposed to be doing. Caisen was just younger, and did what was expected for his age. The day after they finished we left for the beach and had a great time, much due to the swim lessons!

/This is Kimball’s “Don’t come near me because I’m mad” look. It’s hard to take him seriously when he’s so cute still.

/Daisy is so tiny. Here she is in the sink. I made her a virtual diaper. I don’t think anyone, no matter how old they are, would appreciate a spread eagle picture posted on the internet. I actually didn’t take this picture, or I would have had a real diaper on her, or something to cover her. I think it’s a cute picture, so I made her something to wear so I could post it.

/It’s so hard to get a picture of her smiling! She smiles all the time until the camera comes out. Here she is in the bath.
