DYT Type 4 Outfits Week 13

Still working on including my secondary 3 and avoiding the secondary 1 like the plague, which is my type 4 moment. I am very all or nothing. I’m not kind of thinking about maybe not wearing some secondary 1 elements, they are shunned. Dead to me. When I decided to try the DYT 30-day challenge, I didn’t deviate from the rules AT ALL, at least to my knowledge at the time. I followed the rules perfectly.

The rough texture of this sweater makes it secondary 3, but it might be too bulky for me in combination with the length. If it were long enough to wear with leggings I wouldn’t mind. I prefer something with a slimmer silhouette, which is a type 4 characteristic. Also, the neck might be too cowl-like to make me happy. That is a secondary 2 style.

I really didn’t think I would like color blocking. It seems so…80s. I bought this sweater and really like it. I’m surprised how much I like it. This is a very type 4 outfit. I remember when I bought this necklace it seemed so bold and big. That was many years ago. Now it feels a little too small and dainty.

I got a lot of compliments on this, but I don’t know if I love it. Maybe it is the color blocking on a very large scale that bothers me. I’m not sure. I do like the sparkly stripes on my shirt. I’m starting to think brightly colored pants in the winter aren’t for me. Or maybe with tall boots. I’m not sure, but it’s not my favorite.

This was an experiment that I didn’t love. The sequins are just. too. much. I’ve never worn this top in 2 years until today. It’s a sign.

This. This outfit I love. I felt perfect in this all day. The zippers on the moto jacket bring in my S3, as does the studded wrap bracelet and the pebbled texture on my boots. I can’t stand to wear bracelets that move up and down my arm or feel heavy. It is the movement and weight that make me crazy. This bracelet is not noticeable to me, and that is perfect. I never thought I would wear something zebra print, but I like how this belt broke up the black a little, and I LOVE my scarf in my favorite color. A very dear friend bought it for me on her trip to Paris years ago. I can only wear a scarf if it is tight enough to stay still. This one doesn’t move. I remember trying to wear a scarf a few years ago and calling my type 2 friend and asking how she washed dishes while wearing a scarf that was dangling in the way and might get in the dish water? How do you see the dishes with that in your way?

An unexpected combo, but I like it. Argyle in type four colors is so hard to find. Usually there are some type 2 colors thrown in. I love my gingham shirt. Besides my jeans, it might get more wear than any other item in my closet.

This was an almost. Some woudn’t care for the sweetness of a Peter Pan colllar with a moto jacket, but I did, although I think a pointy tipped collar would be better for me than the rounded. The tights, which used to feel so bold to me, are actually secondary 2 because of the swirly shapes. I need to find some that have lines and shapes with straight lines.

  1. THIS! That black and silver shirt is what sparked brining my individuality into the DYT journey. I couldn’t quite ponpoint what made me ‘me’ and I had an aha momemnt that caused an explosion!

Since I read this post, I was able to put my intial look together and fill out my wardrobe with some key pieces. I feel more like myself than I have in almost 20 years. 🙂

Opening up and putting yourself out there always has a positive impact on someone. I love that you documented your journey and appreciate how much it’s helped me on mine.

  2. Thank you Jennifer. As you know, exposing our failures is not something type 4s do. I’m glad it has helped you.
